Dr Mark Newman

Dr Mark NewmanDr Newman graduated in Dentistry in Adelaide in 1979. He moved to Tasmania upon completion of his training, to commence working as an assistant dentist in Macquarie House, Hobart.

Dr Newman continued to work in the city until 1984, when he decided to establish his own practice in Moonah. Unlike other capital cities in Australia, Hobart had very few specialist dentists and by necessity dentists here were required to develop a broad range of skills. Dr Newman has always held a keen interest in the surgical aspect of dentistry and was one of the first Hobart dentists to become involved in modern implant dentistry in 1990. He now has considerable experience in this field and is routinely involved in the placement and restoration of single and multiple implant cases.

Dr Newman is married, with three sons, two daughters and four grandchildren. He is a keen golfer, tennis player and gardener.


Dr Tasha Dodd

Dr Tasha DoddDr Dodd arrived in Tasmania in 1995 after graduating from Auckland and Otago Universities in New Zealand with Bachelor Degrees in Science and Dental Surgery.

In 2007, Dr Dodd became a joint Principal of the Practice with Dr Newman and in 2016 welcomed Drs. Huntington and Garg as partners. She enjoys creating a relaxed environment for her patients and is committed to ensuring that they and their extended families enjoy life long dental health.

Her main interests in the field of dentistry are Children’s dentistry, the Anxious patient and Periodontal treatment.


Dr Kavita Gupta

Dr Kavita GuptaDr Gupta completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1984 and Masters of Dentistry in 1987 in India. She worked in India, Saudi Arabia and Papua New Guinea before relocating to Tasmania in 1998. She sat her Australian Dental Council Examination in 2000 and commenced working as a dentist at Hopkins Street Dental Surgery in 2001.

Dr Gupta enjoys working in all aspects of dentistry. Her special interests are in endodontics (painless root canal treatments), aesthetic dentistry and paediatric dentistry. She is a people person and endeavours to be patient and gentle, whilst making your dental experience a pleasant one.

Dr Gupta is married with two children and enjoys cooking, reading and travelling.


Dr Ruchika Garg

Dr Ruchika GargDr Garg joined the team at Hopkins Street Dental in June 2015.  Dr Garg completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery and also her Australian Dental Certificate in 2005.  Dr Garg has worked in Public Health and the Private Sector in Melbourne, Canberra and Hobart, whilst still continuing her love of teaching.  She is also currently working as a Supervisor to dental students at Oral Health in New Town.

Dr Garg enjoys all aspects of dentistry.  Her special interests include cosmetic dentistry, children and special needs.  Dr Garg has extensive experience in treating patients with needle phobia and dental anxiety.

Dr Garg is married with a young family and when she can, she enjoys walking and cooking.


Dr Andrew Huntington

Dr Huntington has now joined the Hopkins Street Dental Team.  He grew up in the Highlands of Scotland and graduated from
Glasgow University in 1994.  During a hiking trip to Tasmania he enjoyed his time here so much, that he decided to return permanently  and so relocated here in 2016.

Dr Huntington has over 20 years dental experience and enjoys delivering exceptional patient care, with special interest in oral surgery, implants and cosmetic dentistry.  Dr Huntington is looking forward to serving the community and meeting the locals.

Out of work, his favourite pursuits are exploring the outdoors, preferably with his young family in tow!


Dr Matthew Kluck

Dr Matthew Kluck

Dr Kluck relocated to Hobart from Queensland in 2012 after completing his training on the Gold Coast.

He enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and aims to communicate well and achieve a good dental outcome for all of his patients, in a caring manner.

Dr Kluck spends his free time exploring Tasmania with his wife and young family, whilst occasionally endeavouring to fit in a game of golf!
